Cardiff Council Awards

Posted by The Echo Editor on May 18, 2007 11:55 AM |

I was fortunate enough to be one of the judges of this year's Cardiff Council Proud - The People's awards this week.
We heard some excellent stories about the workers who help keep the standards of our public services.
A massive 18,000 people are employed by Cardiff Council and their hard work and commitment is sometimes overlooked in the media.
So today I am pleased that we are able to give over the best part of two pages to pay tribute to some of Cardiff's best public servants. I hope they enjoy their moment of fame.

The excitement of the Assembly election night is long gone but the after-effects are still rumbling on with what now looks likely to be a Plaid/Tory/Liberals coalition.
Many will find this surprising given that Labour held by far the biggest number of seats. Rhodri Morgan admitted to us this morning that he is quite baffled by the decision by the Liberal Democrats.
We'll be looking at this story in further details tomorrow and actually trying to find someone who thinks it is a good idea. See tomorrow's copy to see how we got on.
