Rugby in Penarth

I accidentally walked into a rugby game in Penarth this weekend.
This isn't the start of some awful joke - which is what many who know of my love for the round ball might guess.
No, by accident, I happened to be passing the athletics ground in Penarth and heard the sounds of a large crowd.
I walked in and found myself surrounded by what looked like 600 people watching Penarth take on Crawshays in the sunshine.
It was a fantastic occassion with a huge crowd enjoying some Bank Holiday sport and enjoying a couple of beers in the sun. And there was even a streaker (male, before you ask)!

My interest in rugby stutters beyond the national side and the Blues but the amount of people at this game got me thinking about the way local newspapers cover sport.
From what I could gather, most of the crowd were enjoying a social occassion and casting a casual eye now and again at the rugby.
But surely an event which can attract crowds of this type should merit its place in a newspaper. I'm looking forward to discussing our coverage of this type of game with our senior team but would appreciate any thoughts.
What do you think of how we cover grass roots sports? Do we give the coverage they deserve? Or would you prefer that we keep the focus on the Cardiff City, Blues and the national sides?
