Russell Brand's no-show

Posted by The Echo Editor on March 6, 2007 11:13 AM |

Over the last two days we have been featuring reports on the comedian Russell Brand and the reasons that he failed to show up in Cardiff on Sunday for a show.
He let down an audience of 1,200 who had packed into the St David's Hall with an excuse that his car had broken down.
Sorry? His car had broken down.
Yes, one of Britain's showbusiness stars couldn't come to Cardiff because his car had broken down.
Pathetic.

Presumably he's never heard of taxis or getting a lift from a friend.
No Brand simply gave up and let down 1,200 fans who had made special arrangements to spend a Sunday night watching a man who is meant to be one of our brightest stars.
Today we shine a light on how Brand was planning to spend his Sunday ... when he should have been in Cardiff.
In Saturday's Guardian Brand told readers of his plans to watch West Ham play against Spurs - a match that started at 4pm. You do the maths and work out how he planned to get to Cardiff in time for a show starting at 7.30pm.
I know Brand is building a name for himself for being outrageous, but this was a step too far.
At least he had his comeuppance as West Ham lost,

We've got a great story on Page 3 today, which I love.
Mary, a grandmother from Wenvoe, went fishing for the first time on a boat ... and caught a 100lb shark.
You couldn't make it up.
It's a great story with fantastic pictures. If you can't get to see today's Echo it will appear on ciwales.co.uk/echo later this afternoon.
